It’s our great pleasure to invite you to join us this Sunday Morning, Palm Sunday, March 28, 2021, at 10:30 AM, for our Worship Service at Astoria 1st Assembly of God. Pastor Nick and Janice Buhler will be sharing a special message.
Palm Sunday commemorates the entrance of Christ into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1–9), when palm branches were placed in his path, before his arrest on Holy Thursday and his crucifixion on Good Friday. It thus marks the beginning of Holy Week.
In Matthew 21:1–11, Mark 11:1–11, Luke 19:28–44, and John 12:12–19, Jesus descends from the Mount of Olives towards Jerusalem, and the crowds lay their clothes on the ground to welcome him as he triumphantly enters Jerusalem.
"Hosanna" was the shout of praise or adoration made in recognition of the Messiahship of Jesus on his triumphal entry into Jerusalem, "Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the LORD!" It is used in the same way in Christian praise.
