SATURDAY NIGHT PRAYER MEETING @ Astoria First Assembly

We invite you all to join us as we gather for prayer this Saturday evening, May 15, 2021, from 6:00-7:00 pm, at our All Church Prayer Meeting at Astoria First Assembly of God Church.

We know that prayer meetings may have gone out of fashion in recent years. We're tired, busy, distracted by many things and the thought of leaving home and sitting in room with a bunch of people we may or may not know ... well, sometimes, it's just not real appealing. We get it.

However, on the other hand, setting aside every reason not to be there, we are still convinced we should meet weekly to pray. We feel the need to seek God for his power, provision and direction.

We are excited about ministry opportunities and we want to ask the Lord to step in, to take charge, to make a way for the moving of the Holy Spirit's anointing over our church. We are desperate to see the Lord at work in his power for his glory in the world.

Will you join us?

The nineteenth century preacher, Charles Spurgeon, wrote and preached on the necessity of prayer meetings. Here's a quote that drives home our point:

"The condition of the church may be very accurately gauged by its prayer meetings. So is the prayer meeting a grace-ometer, and from it we may judge of the amount of divine working among a people. If God be near a church, it must pray. And if He be not there, one of die first tokens of His absence will be a slothfulness in prayer!"

We urge you to make plans to come and join us for this time of prayer for our local body and the ministry of the church. We live in turbulent and exciting times and our congregation is providing a wonderful opportunity for you to pray on Saturday evenings.

Everyone is welcome to attend. We hope to see you there!
