Welcome to Astoria First Assembly of God church! We are beyond excited that you are here! We've got a place for you!!

It’s our great pleasure to invite you and your family to join us this Sunday, September 26, 2021, at 10:30 AM, for our In-Person Worship Service.

Pastor Nick Buhler is doing a series on the book of Acts. This Sunday, he will be sharing on Acts, Chapter 13 (Worship, Prayer, & Fasting).

Paul’s first Missionary Journey, “Little Is Much When God Is in It” Subject: How is such a big task as evangelizing the whole world done?

Complement: The Source is Jesus and empowerment of the Spirit who supplies the Strategy, Message and Results of the Mission

Big idea: The Holy Spirit is the source, not me; he supplies the Strategy, the Message, and the Results of the Mission.

Acts 13 (4).jpg

“Then Saul (who is also called Paul), filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him.”(Acts 13:9 KJV)

From here on in Acts, Saul is only referred to as Paul. Saul means “sought after,”and Paul means “little.” The name change is descriptive of what happened within Paul, leaving behind greatness in his own eyes and being content to be insignificant. This is the journey every believer must take. (TPT footnote).

“In the church at Antioch, there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.” (Acts 13:1–3 NIV)

Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. For so the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’” (Acts 13:47)

Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.

The power of God’s word touches those who are hurting and awakens hope for the hopeless. Whether you prefer traditional or contemporary worship, we invite you to celebrate the good news in Jesus Christ with us!
